Cloudforest whipsnake (Chironius monticola)
(ENG) Choronius monticola is a nonvenomous snake, but known by their aggressive attack pose. When this snake opens its mouth, it gets visible a small opening, just behind the tongue, called the glottis which leads into the trachea, or windpipe. As they do not chew their food, snakes are able to extend their glottis while they eat, which allows them to breath while they consume large prey items.
